About Captain Bob Pennington
Captain Bob's career in the fishing industry began at age seven when he worked his first summer aboard a head boat with his dad as the captain. From that summer and still he has fished for virtually every species of fish found near the Jersey shore. Except for a hitch with the Navy during the Vietnam era, he has always been involved in party boat fishing operations.
In 1971 he purchased his first boat (formerly called the Shamrock), and the Sea Devil came alive! He bought this first boat from Captain Jack Bogan in Point Pleasant, whom he had worked for several years. In 1977 he purchased the 2nd, larger Sea Devil which was followed by his first new boat, (the third Sea Devil), in 1980.
This takes us to 1990, when Captain Bob commissioned the present, 85 foot Sea Devil (# 4), designed specifically for the offshore tuna industry. During the late seventies, Captain Bob helped pioneer the offshore tuna industry and this current Sea Devil was carefully planned to accommodate the serious tuna fisherman. The boat was completely renovated in the year 2000 and can boast to be the most comfortable and cleanest party fishing boat in New Jersey.
Captain Bob’s 35 years of party boat fishing combined with over 25 years of winter commercial fishing for cod, tile fish, fluke and swordfish has given him an exceptional depth of experience that is hard to find along the Jersey coast. He resides in Point Pleasant with his wife Cindy, who will cheerfully answer your questions and make your reservations.
